Pumpkins, a Cozy Fall Blanket & the Sinisters...finally!

Our Pumpkin Farm has Bloomed!!

Here are a few shots of our backyard "farm" where our pumpkins have grown, with some growing BIG: (yikes!!)

I  was so excited when I went out to see how the patch was doing..and this is what I saw!

I think Dexter has chosen his Pumpkin for this year :)

But this one's been taken by the lady of the house !!

 I have been getting into the Fall feeling, so I decided to make a cozy "Owl Blanket" to start the season off right:

I chose to make my theme "Owls" and and used a variety of fabrics for the applique. 

This is the backside in a anti-pill fleece I found and fell in love with !

Time to snuggle up!!

  Last, but certainly not least, is the completed illustration of my favorite family....the Sinisters: 
(I posted four members last time, but this is a compilation of the old and new members finally completed and ready to be put into embroidery patterns....coming soon!

1st Illustration Series - Comin' at ya !

Meet.......

                       the "Sinister Family".

I have been working on a variety of illustration projects 

and starting a new series I will share on my blog. The

"Sinisters" are my latest and they are based on designs

by a wonderful illustrator by the name of Bill Brown.

For now, there are three family members completed and 

I'm working on the rest of the family as we speak. 

 

So, without further adieu...

More Aprons-yeah!!

I have been busy creating new styles of aprons....here we are so far this week:

Getting into Fall colors !

My favorite style of craft apron.

These two aprons are for sale on my Etsy shop as of today. And there are many more to come now that I have stocked up on my fall fabric collection !

My (very own) 7 Gypsies Library Drawer

         My (very own)  Decorated Library drawer.....

 Here is how we started out:

                                  
                         .....with a drawer from 7 gypsies, 

                 4 wooden "feet", a pink drawer pull (which

             I ended up not using), eye screws and a variety

                of different styled chain to us as separators.

                   ....and here is where I ended up!!

As you can see, I did add other elements such as the upholstery nails and corner brackets from the Tim Holtz collection as well as some vintage ribbon to go around the bottom of the drawer and, finally, I collaged the entire drawer with torn up pieces of aa square of wrapping paper featuring an "Old World Map" theme (which fit in perfectly...I think :)

In a few days, I will be posting the project for the function of my drawer...a journaling project to include writing daily on small note-cards and separating the monthly writings with larger decorated file-tabbed cards for each month!!

Recycled Apron

I needed a new apron, but decided to go for broke and only use fabric I already had in my stash versus going to the fabric store and purchasing some adorable new print they would have in stock......so, I dug in and found two old pair old jeans - one a lighter color then the other and some cute back pockets to use as accents. 

 

Along with the waistband & side seams from the jeans to be used as ties and straps, the two different shades of jean material that was cut from the front and back of the leg section of both pair of jeans really added a desirable contrast for the front of the apron.....

 

 

 

But I did want something with a little color to it for the inside of the apron, so I found a green, dotted fabric that would contrast nicely...

 

I added the pockets to the front and a "Recycle"-themed patch to seal the deal!!

A "Not So-Original" IIllustration....missing artist?!!

A "Not So-Original" Painting:


 A few years ago I came across an adorable picture on a Google Image search for inspiring illustrations, of a little girl in a crown using her magic wand to "Poof" her frog into a prince - as of a few weeks ago, I decided to replicate the painting for practice and am posting it to my blog - HOWEVER......I am unable to find the illustration on Flickr, Google, Yahoo, etc again and would love to find out the name of the original artist to credit her/him on my blog.  If anyone has any clues to help, that would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

I wasn't able to replicate it exactly due to my current skill level : ( ...but close!!
